Forget I Ever Knew You & other musincs
05/16/08Just love this bonus track from the Walmart enhanced edition of On My Way Here. I really think this is Clay's best album yet, the vocals are so rich in texture - "ear delicious" as Neil Sedaka remarked when he heard Clay's rendition of "Solitaire."
I'm so glad Clay included such variety in tempo, orchestration, production & vocals in this album. I so pray more people discover it - and give him the numbers he deserves. I'm not finished buying. Gave i a couple as gifts to two lovely African American ladies I work with and one of them had her door open with the CD blaring when I drove into the parking lot yesterday - she just wanted to show me how much she liked it!
Disappointed that I gave up the opportunity for May 16 Kimmel tickets before Clay changed the date (anyone have an extra ticket for tomorrow? Pretty, pretty please). Stiffed by the Ferguson VIP's as well for May 19. Must be the curse of living in L.A. Now I have to attend a Monday evening business meeting when I'd rather be Claying around.
Funny, I had to travel 3,000 miles to get an autograph (times 2) & see him up close & personal at the stage door after his absolutely incredible star turn in Spamalot - but in L.A. I never seem to get lucky with the TV appearances, aside from the Fifth Grader taping. Of course, I'm sure my boss appreciates my bad luck because that means a full day of work instead of leaving early on a Clay hunt.
For Spamalot, I was smack up against the back wall of the balcony, but I sprinted down the stairs during the intermission to scout a good spot at the barricade and got lucky after two successive performances in early Feb. before the crowds got crazy
My husband's addiction to McDonald's paid off when I spotted Jerome outside after the Sat. matinee, carrying a "to go" bag & chatting with someone. He graciously allowed me to take his picture and send a small gift to Clay. What a nice man.
And now the Clay man is s gonna SING on the Kimmel show - something up tempo, I hope, because that will grab the ear of the NJU in the Kimmel audience. Then he could do the title song as the fadeout on the show. That's how I found the rocking singer/songwriter/pianist/guitarist Gran Bel Fisher - Kimmel's music segment.
But because the Kimmel audience is young & "cool" it would be great if Clay gave them some up tempo stuff which they will not be expecting. I hope his live performances are posted where everyone, not just fans, can see them.
Here's a photo someone took that happened to capture Clay & me (yeah, I'm the one in the hooded jacket with her eyes closed - I don't think I passed out).
Sorry, can't figure out how to post the link!
