THE TWO KARENS (con't) :
07/17/05BABY D: So once they arrived at Carnaby Street all hell broke loose. Much like the opening scene from "Austin Powers", the girls were escorted about in a Jaguar XKE. Baby K and sort of Baby D then were taken to all the hottest boutiques.
At Mary Quant's they purchased mini-skirts,go-go boots and pillbox hats. At Yardley's, they bought white lipstick and heavy black eyeliner to make "Twiggy-stick eyelashes".
Occasionally, they had to jump out of the Jag and dance the Frug and the Bugaloo with wild abandon. London had never seen such a precocious infant and pre-teen.
Tea with the Queen Mother, a fellow Leo, was up next for the two about town. Queen Mum was most gracious as she served tea and crumpets for the dainty darlings. Pinkies were appropriately raised as they lifted their translucent china cups.
Little did they know of the dark turn of events that was in store for this inseparable set of twins. WHile drinking tea with Queen Mum, there was a darkening in the sky and a bolt of lightning. Suddenly, a formidable and frightening woman appeared, uninvited. She had wild black hair and was dressed in a black satin gown. She had a wand. She introduced herself as "Morgana".
As she tapped each sister on the shoulder she proclaimed a curse upon the darling pair.
"You shall be separated for forty years hence, being forced to find your own ways into the world."
The girls screamed and begged for mercy. They hesitated to fall to their knees for fear of sullying their white mesh stockings and Courrege dresses. The witch was gone in a flash.
The Queen Mum clapped her hands three times and the skies cleared. "I, too, am a fairy, not just a queen," she declared. "I can't undo the curse, but I can add on a happy ending. After forty years, a handsome prince with green eyes, a long elegant frame , a freckly face and copper locks shall bring the two of you together again."
She clapped her hands once more, leaving the usually loquacious pair speechless . Their fate had been set.
