"Sometimes you can tell a large story with a tiny subject."

-Eliot Porter

Well how tiny are we talking? This ladybug caught my eye the other day as I was walking. It may not tell a story to everyone, but it does to me. As I have a close friend who collects anything to do with ladybugs, so this shot screamed out her name.

"A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?"

-Ernst Haas

Okay, as I promised here are some things about me. (that are nonphotography related.

Caro posed a few questions in her last comment, I'll take one of those...

  1. My background: Grew up as one of 2 kids in a single parent home (mom left when I was 12). Grew up in a small town and wouldn't have had it any other way. My hometown has a charm to it that I can't find in larger cities. The photographer in me (oops here I go again) loves how on the main street there are still old neon signs above many of the new stores from what they used to be. I'll see if I can get a shot of them soon. I was a bit of an outcast kid, always known as the little girl with the dark hair, who talked too much, and had her nose in a book half the time.

  2. My Training: I think this is related to my photography too... my dark secret is....(insert the drum roll). I've never had any formal training. Everything I know about the art I've picked up in books or taught myself through trial and error. I rely on my eye and how I see things, then go home and look up the technical information to learn how to translate my vision into a finished print. I'm still learning how to do this in most cases. (Hint: Photoshop can be yourbest friend.)

This is me... (and to runtome who mentioned it, don't worry. these tracks haven't been in use for 20 yrs)

As always, feel free to stop by my photoblog.
