The Fall of Western Civilization
07/14/05Heaven help me, I'm watching Being Bobby Brown. Even more frightning, this is my second hour. And downright terrifying? I kind of like it.
What have I BECOME?!?
I need to program my TIVO for the latest round of summer shows. About a month ago, my cable company decided to "reorganize" nearly all of the basic and extended channels - including local stations. I have no idea which channel half of this stuff is on anymore. To top it off, TIVO didn't catch up with it for another two weeks. ACK!!! and ARGHHHHH!!!
But now everything is settled so I need to get on with the programming. It's going to require some creative managing to get everything covered. Too many things are on at the same time. Why do networks do this again? Oh yeah...to make my life more difficult. ::rolls eyes:: Okay, okay, okay...yeah yeah yeah, ratings, competition and ad dollars are involved too, but really? At the end of the day? It all just ends up messing with the consumers. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;-)
It's just that somewhere along the line, I seem to have become a reality TV junkie. When did this happen? I'd blame AI, but I'm pretty sure Survivor broke down my resistance and it was all down hill from there. Right now I'm following (or trying to follow) The Scholar, Beauty and the Geek (Richmond doesn't have a WB station, so another channel has been airing it with a two week delay), Hell's Kitchen (got sucked in big time), I Want to Be a Hilton, Brat Camp (I thought I had wednesdays free now that Dancing with the Stars is over, but I was wrong), The Cut (been having trouble catching this one), Blow Out (which is what led me to BBB), The Princes of Malibu (have only been able to catch snippets so far), and Rockstar INXS Which is on three, THREE! nights a week. This is the culprit screwing up my schedule. Tho now that I'm looking at the TV schedule for this weekend, looks like they are reshowing it this sat. YAY! Annnnnnnnnd...the Game Show Network has started airing past episodes of The Amazing Race, so I'm trying to catch up with those.
So, that's a LOT of stuff I'm trying to cram into my poor TIVO. Esp as I still have the entire season of Deadliest Catch on the hard drive.
And so, it begs the question...has reality TV improved this season? Or has my taste in TV sunk to a new nadir? g
