Columbus what a special night ...

07/25/07

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FRIEND CYNTHIA TODAY!!!

Hello friends forgive me for not posting a new blog sooner. I think I am finally caught up on my sleep. Working late tonight but taking a break.

Gus and I had the most AMAZING night in Columbus!

After resolving car troubles right before we left, Gus and I were happy to be hitting the road again.

The night flew by with fun, unexpected conversation and a little music to sing a long to. Driving all night can be grueling but not this time!!!!

I enjoyed that car ride to Ohio quite a bit! Funny how some things stand out and simple conversation can be the among the hightlights of a trip.

I'm sitting here looking at a "Goofy" Pez dispenser on my desk that is making me laugh at some inside jokes from that car ride.

When we arrived in Ohio early afternoon we were so tired. I was so excited it seemed that I could not sleep but Gus managed to take a nap. Thank goodness for that because I don't think I slept the whole weekend but maybe an hour.

We joined a very dear friend for lunch at Applebees and she showered us with gifts and amazing generosity. I cannot even begin to describe the kindness that was shown to us in Ohio. Clay friends are the sweetest people on earth! We are so blessed! I hope she comes to Minnesota someday so we can show her the same amount of hospitality.

After a late lunch we made our way to the venue and found our table. It was in the 4th row right on the aisle which would prove to be a GREAT location later on in the evening.

We met up with LOTS of friends and enjoyed the summer evening with clear blue skies and a wonderful breeze.

When Clay took the stage I was mesmorized. He just has this ability to draw you in and you can't take your eyes off him. Maybe it was because we were surrounded in a sea of Ohio Clayfriends in neon limegreen shirts or maybe I was just caught up in a daydream but it felt like all night long Clay kept looking in our direction. HA HA HA .. well from my perspective anyways. Yes well humor me we all want him to looking our way now don't we? LOL!!! Don't you love when it does happen though and he looks right your way and takes you by surprise. fangirl moment :D wink

Here's our friends and their limegreen shirts!

All night long every song was amazing!!! The one that REALLY stands out though is 'The Way You Make Me Feel'. Clay came out into the audience during that song and I just couldn't believe it he STOPPED RIGHT AT OUR TABLE!!

Wow.. talk about exciting. My friend Deb actually sang to him as he put the microphone in her face. She was flying on a cloud after that! I can still see her smiling. Haha

It was amazing the size of that crowd too and just how much Clay truly put on the best show I've seen in years!!!

His voice was so strong and he appeared to be very happy. I love when I can see that joy in his eyes!!!

When the night was over we went to stand by the bus and wait for Jerome to tell us where to stand. Gus sang the song "The Colour of My Love" for our dear friend while we waited. I tell you it was nothing short of magical. My friend and I both were brought to tears. I love to listen to Gus's voice! I get to quite often and that is certainly a blessing!

Here we are with our friend Patty.

Then we got in line and Gus walked up and my friends and I put out our hands like we couldn't wait to shake his hand.

Here's a picture of that precious moment! Oh Gus!! ha ha ha!

That line was so long in Columbus I was just amazed! And Clay came through shaking everyone's hand with a HUGE smile on his face.

And I got the BEST HANDSHAKE from him!!! I still remember his grip and how long those fingers are! HA HA HA!

A priceless moment to store away in my book of many memories!

Here's a priceless photo of that moment! Thank you to my friend Deb's husband for taking it!

Okay How BLESSED AM I?!?!?!?

Yes I know VERY blessed to have such loving friends and wonderful memories to look back on.

The rest of the evening we just hung out in our room recounting the night and playing a few rounds of cards. Gus slept but I couldn't. So I put in Gus's ATDW CD and relived the night as I sang along quietly. Needless to say I was tired the next morning. It was a long drive home and for some reason I still did most of the driving. Crazy weekend for sure!

Our road trip home was also filled with more conversation and lots of singing along to our favorite praise songs! It truly was a trip to be thankful for with so many unexpected surprises.

Gus and I will head to North Carolina next month and once again share in making new memories with dear friends. We will be fying into Raleigh this time though!! So there will be No roadtrip so to speak. It will be something new for us! Flying in an airplane and getting there much faster! Can't wait. lol

Here's a nice photo taken of Gus and I on Saturday night!

I could not ask for more of a fun, kind, and special blessing in the friendship Gus and I share!

OH and I can safely say that joy you see in our eyes was put there by that sweet sweet man who graces my heart with his song and his smile!!!!

Sending out hugs and love to all my sweet friends here! I'm sorry I haven't been around in a few days. I think I'm just waking up from our special night!

Hugs & Blessings,

~Meesh~
