Clay said his favorite drink is Dr. Pepper.
Wheeeee! A connection!
It's from Texas. Invented in Waco as a brain tonic.

What was I saying?
Oh yeah...I've gotta get me some of that!
First bottled in Dublin, Texas, in 1891. That plant is still there and is the only Dr. Pepper bottling plant that still uses pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup.
There's an old style soda shop there called Old Doc's Soda Shop.
Here's a site about the Dublin Dr. Pepper plant and the soda shop.
Dublin Dr. Pepper
For Clay to take to his island:

Some expressions they used to use in soda shops. (Picture Shirley Feeney and Laverne DiFazio saying these)
"Bucket of mud" = A large scoop of chocolate ice cream
"Burn a crowd of van" = Three vanilla malts
"Draw one, black" = Coffee
"Eve with the lid on" = Apple pie
"Cold spot" = Iced tea
"Shoot a Grade A" = milk
"One all the way" = Ice cream soda
"Hail a crowd in the air" = Three large glasses of ice
Or picture Clay saying them. He played a guy working behind the counter in a diner on that TV show.....

The hat wasn't very flattering, but he looked cute singing and dancing.
