The other night I had to babysit for a six year old. It was getting late and the little guy fell asleep on the couch. Beau loves the kids and is happy when they come over but he pretty much is content to lay around in his old age. He checked on him a couple of times by walking over there and sniffing him and when he saw things were fine he took up residence on the other side of the room. Well, at some point the child had a bad dream and started to whimper and cry. The whole family was in the room at that point and we rushed over to the couch but not before Beau got there. He started to whimper too and stared hard at me. It was like he was saying, "Do something! There is something wrong with this human puppy!" We comforted "little guy"--he was fine but we comforted Beau too. Always the protector. What a good dog.
