I love the things I learn along the way as I research my skits. (Well, despite the fact that they're fluff, they do require at least a little bit of research.)
I'm working on a song parody of "Sweet Potato Piper" from The Road to Singapore, and wanted to know about the little pipe instruments that Bing, Bob and Dorothy "play." It turns out that they're called ocarinas, or "sweet potatoes." There's a website about them here (http://www.songbirdocarina.com/zelda.html) if you're interested (can we put links in these things?) -- I thought it was ironic that they're also called "flutes of clay." I'm thinking of ordering one -- they say it's easy to learn. Of course, I've always wanted to learn the ukelele, too...
