Translation of Japanese blog

07/13/08

I translated my Japanese blog with help from my instructor. So, please overlook my mistake.

(1) About "C" (Originally written on Feb.18, 2007)

Ipod and Clay Aiken changed my music life. I bought a black ipod in May 2006. Like many Japanese fans, I also discovered singer Clay Aiken on the TV program "American Idol season 5". American Idol is a television program presented by Fox, but season 5 was the first to be broadcasted in Japan. Moreover, we can watch it only on paid TV. Although Clay is the runner up in the 2nd season, he appeared at the final show of the 5th season as a surprise guest. He sang part of "Don't let the sun go down on me" in only 2 minutes. I was deeply impressed with his voice and smile. "Who is this guy?" I wondered. But knowing more about him was not easy.

(2) Who is he? (Originally written on Feb.21, 2007)

Clay Aiken's gorgeous voice, his decent looks, and his smile stayed in my heart. He seemed to be a powerful vocalist much like Josh Groban. And I wanted to listen more of his songs. I watched his performance on AI5 on recorded videotape several times, and I forgot about him for a while. But AI5 was broadcasted again and again. At the weekend, while doing housework I saw him again by chance."Oh, I want to listen to his songs more." I researched his CD on Amazon.com, but there was no person as I had seen on TV. One album jacket contained a picture of a very young boy with short, spiked hair. Another album is a Xmas album that has a picture of a man with sideburns. On his official website, there were some PVs showing a skinny boy in casual wear, not in suit and tie. He sang pop songs. His voice is wonderful, but he is not the gorgeous singer that I found. Moreover, these PVs were made several years before. "What are these?" I decided to buy his used album as a trial from Amazon marketplace. The goods are always delivered after 2-3 weeks from the U.S. So my first purchase of Clay was used. His debut album "A Measure of a Man" includes his big close-up picture. The photo showed an innocent face with a lot of freckles. "Oh? Is he a real idol in the U.S.?" I hesitated. During that summer, his album was my companion during my walking exercises. (…to be continued.)
