To deely-bop or not??

To deely-bop or not to deely-bop.

I recently read this discussion on another board and I wanted to comment...

One person said: "If the blinkie babes are happy, then more power to them."

Then someone said: "Everyone is entitled to do what they want but I still think anyone over 12 wearing deely-boppers looks ridiculous at a Clay concert or anywhere else. And "your right" or not, it's easy fodder for those with an agenda."

Well.............

And I fall right in the middle. I look askance at the people with the deely-boppers, think they look a bit ridiculous, but you know what? If they want to look ridiculous, that's certainly their right. Whether or not the fans wear deely-boppers or Clay garb, the journalists will find something to crack on because a lot of us are over 30, we're middle-aged, we're senior citizens and they can't stand that. They can't deal with it and instead of doing the job that journalists should be doing, investigating the phenomina (whatever) of the fandom, they take the easy way out and mock us.

Well, fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all.

I refuse to let them dictate how I act, how I dress, and how I look. That's what they want. They want to be able to have some sort of power over us and the way they get this power is to mock us. It's mysoginistic at its best and cruel at its worst. They hate the fact that we're independent, we have money, we make our own decisions, and we're intelligent.

The PH's, the JP's, the BM's, they all mock us because they are too stupid to understand us. Because by understanding us, they lessen their own worth. And God forbid they do anything that sets them up to be less than they think they are in their tiny little minds.
