Musings

10/17/06

So many different things I have been feeling lately.

Joy. I am loving Clay's new album, A Thousand Different Ways. He took a list of covers and a few new songs and made something special. So many different styles. New uses of his voice. Exploring what his voice can do. Writing. Lover All Alone is one of the most perfect songs I have ever heard. Creating. The concept for Broken Wings. The way the music supports his voice in places. On LAA, the way his voice is truly an instrument; in one place, it blends with the cello so well it's hard to tell where his voice leaves off.

Ecstatic over reports from the Tyra Banks taping. Looks like I have a new hero.

The love of my family and friends, especially my wonderful husband.

Frustration. Seeing Clay's talent continue to be undervalued by the critics and the genral public. He deserves so much better. He is capable of so much.

Being out of work. Money being tight. Worrying about my surgery. Is it really necessary? What if my insurance doesn't cover it? What if it doesn't work?

Sadness. Missing my family. Being so far away from them. The state of the world in general today. Uganda. Iraq. North Korea. Bad people. Good people. Needless suffering. Obsession with the private lives of celebrities when there are so many more important issues in the world. Hating on celebrities when they have done nothing wrong.

Hope. Clay is slowly gaining repsect. From people like David Foster, Suzie McNeill, Tyra Banks. Looking forward to his next project. Hoping he will be able to carry his vision through to the end.

Peace talks in Uganda. Will it work? Will the children be able to finally sleep in their beds at night unafraid?

Life is so complex. At times, it almost seems too much. At others, it is a pleasure.

All things considred, I am grateful.
