HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!

12/31/05

What is so difficult about forgiveness?

When I was a child back in the Philippines, our family have this tradition of wiping the slate clean for everyone and for ourselves on New Year's day.

Sometimes that act is so hard that I saw my aunt cried so hard in trying to forgive someone, but as tradition dictates, she did! I was amazed.

I tried to tell people about this at work, but it is not getting positive comments. I am finding that most people harbor grudges for longer times that I would consider healthy.

As I'm cleaning my living room getting ready for New Year's day, vacuuming all the dust of 2005, I thought about the forgiving nature of my Filipino family. I sure miss them today, all 300+ of them. They are waiting to see my LTS book that Clay signed for me in Kansas City. It say's "use your voice". I know majority got that dedication, but I just know how my 4 funny brothers would find something about that phrase to tease me about :)

Happy 2006 to you all! Here's wishing you to find it in your hearts to forgive those that hurt you.

Now if only I could stop pigging out on this great New Year's treats--barbecued chicken wings anyone? Back to cleaning.... ~WC
