As I was perusing the threads under The Man here at the OFC board, one member of my family came running to the room, grabbed the camera and yell to call the police. I hurriedly dialed 9-1-1 and while the operator was being told that a robbery was happening I glimpsed my neighbor's white car red tail lights came on and the car drove off. Just-like-that! It took only seconds! A car theft only accross our living room big window, on a Sunday afternoon! At daylight!

Such brazen thieves! They didn't steal the car at night time, or in disguise. It was deliberately done right under our noses!

We didn't know what to do except to call the police and took a photo-- all in a few seconds time. I stayed away from the window, too! Too afraid to confront the robbery that was taking place. The memory of an architect who confronted such robber a few years ago was still fresh on our minds. That architect died of gunshot wounds. The car wasn't worth our lives but I am left with mounting anger that I couldn't do anything to stop what I just saw.

My neighbor who I called right after our 911 call was to call her mom to let her know someone drove off with her car. It was her first car! What's going on? We live in a very decent neighborhood, one of the best suburbs there is.

What a Sunday afternoon!
