MARK TWAIN SPEAKS TO CLAY (with love)

01/19/07

It's 4 AM!!! And I am not sleeping!!!! Good Lord, this almost never happens. My two cats woke me up at 3 AM, I don't know what possessed them (maybe Clay is right they are evil), so I let them outside, but I lost my sleep. It used to be in the past, that if I lost sleep for some reason, I would grab a book and read. Ever since I became the member of this Fan Club, when I have a free moment , the OCD (Obsessive Claypulsive Disorder) - kicks in. "Must check the OFC...Maybe Clay blogged already, while I was preocuppied with..."(insert activity). "Maybe he was thinking about me with warmth and affection, and he let me know in his blog, and I am oblivious about it..?! Must stop.." - (insert activity) "...and run there..."

See, Jemock is not the only one with delusional ...ehm.. romantic heart here.

I should stop babbling, and get to the point of this blog. But first, the two culprits of tonight:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I love them both, they make me happy

I'm a lazy person. There were already several blogs I intended to post on various topics, and I never got to it. But this time I'm making it easy for myself. I will post quotes that I found recently.

It attracted my attention that Clay pointed out in his last blog that he shares his birthday with Winston Churchill. I went to check who else had the same birthday. I discovered with GREAT DELIGHT, that Clay shares birthday with MARK TWAIN. I feel, that this is very fitting. Somehow, Mark Twain seems to be the perfect mentor for Clay, and I even see similarities between them.

There are so many "nuggetts of wisdom" left behind by Twain. Here is a mini-collection of quotes from Mark Twain, that do speak to Clay in some way. Either they are words of advice, or they are comments about some situations. In my heart all of the below quotes can be Clay related:

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too can become great."

Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she has laid an asteroid.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.

One of the striking differences between a cat and a lie is that a cat has only nine lives.

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them.

Drag your thoughts away from your troubles... by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer someone else up.

The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.

A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.

Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of a joy you must have somebody to divide it with.

The most interesting information comes from children, for they tell all they know and then stop.

He liked to like people, therefore people liked him.

And finally:

KINDNESS IS THE LANGUAGE WHICH THE DEAF CAN HEAR AND THE BLIND CAN SEE. I love you, Clay! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
