Hey-lo

12/27/06

Well, how was everyone's holiday? Mine was pretty good. I'm stayin at the in-law's house. I don't think that I've ever spent the night in their house before now. My hubby's spent the night at my parent's house too many times to count, but I've never had the opportunity. The only thing I regret is how incredibly ill I have been since coming here. Sorry if this sounds gross, but I feel like I've been living in their bathroom. To top it all off, I wasn't able to get my oxycontin refilled before I left, so I had to visit the ER as soon as I got here. I asked the doctor if he would be willing to give me plain old 5 mg oxycodone instead of my 40 mg oxycontin. When I asked him that, he gave me vicodin. The guy wasn't American, so we might have had a language barrier problem. All I know is that vicodin gives me pain relief for a half an hour at the most. Not good, considering I have to ration it until I can talk to my doctor in MN. The doctors at the hospital that I'm not too fond of told me that it was possible to get 5 mg oxycodone that wasn't loaded with Tylenol. I was really hoping that was true, because controlled release stuff doesn't really work on me. I have an appointment with neurosurgery in February, but that's a long time from now. I realize I probably sound like a junkie or something. The truth is, I'd rather have them cut me open than stay on pain killers. As much as I don't want another surgery, staying on narcotics would be worse. I've been thinking a lot about the Mayo clinic for my next surgery. I've apparently already tried the best St. Paul has to offer. If anyone here has had any experience with Mayo, I'd be very appreciative of the insight. Hmmm, I suppose I should get back to talking about my Christmas. I'm sure some people here understand how hard it is to think about anything else when you're in pain. My favorite present this Christmas is my Bedazzler. I know that might be a little dorky, but I love that kind of thing. I'm imagining all the cool concert T's I can make with it. Anyway, I can here my husband is having laundry issues, so I should go help him out. Have a wonderful day and a fantastic New Year if I don't get the chance to write again.

God Bless! Hannah
