Guilt
09/14/07I've been part of the "Clay Nation" virtual community for only 16 months - a small amount of time compared to some.
I have what I call my "home board," which I don't stray from very often because I don't like getting into the negativism that gets around to some spots.
But recently something happened. A tour was erroneously reported by Billboard Magazine. At first I wasn't sure about it. It didn't make sense, but by the end of the day, I was ok with it. If Clay wanted to tour with KL and RS fine. I'll go!
It wouldn't have been the tour I was hoping for, but seeing Clay live would be great no matter what. He doesn't plan his tours around my desires.
Then - it exploded! The whole "Clay Nation" was up in arms. Ok - not everyone, but a lot of people. Many were shocked to hear this. Many were confused.
Clay must have gotten wind of the uproar and actually blogged twice in one day because of it. He set the record straight.
There would be no "Reunion Tour."
Closure.
Or so I thought.
Now, it was at about this point something switched in my usually mellow, calm, optimistic mind. I suddenly became overly protective.
I've had these feelings before when reading something or hearing something etc... However, I do not usually verbalize them or act on them. This time I did.
If what Clay said is true, which I totally believe it to be, then why hadn't Kim said something? And why would she allow that story to run without solid confirmation from Clay's camp or Ruben's?
I was really letting myself run with this one!
I did the unthinkable. Well, not totally unthinkable, but out of character for me. I went to Kim's blog and commented about the article. It wasn't necessarily a negative comment, but after reading it again the next day, ti did sound rather abrupt. I felt bad.
To top it all off - she commented right after my post! Oh, now I really felt bad. Seemingly, mine was the last post she approved before commenting on all that we fans had commented.
Then came Kim's blog. And it was not a very nice one. She sounded very defensive and practically blames Clay for the confusion. However she did mention that Billboard left out the fact that the whole thing was "hopeful."
Back at "home" people are being as diplomatic and positive as possible. And me, well, I regret even having made a single comment about it.
My thoughts - Teacher Clay, and a mad one at that, is going to appear and scold us all for acting so immaturely. Rightly so - There are KLo fans and Clay fans bashing each other on message boards. Even on Kim's blog! Hardly the place to carry on a very childlike argument.
Kim - I really like your music. I have nothing against you at all.
Clay - I adore your music and what you are doing with TBAF and UNICEF and so many other things. You are a wonderful man for that.
I send my dearest apology to you both for even getting involved in this cyber-fan-fueled-fued.
I sincerely hope that you and Kim can get through this without any hurt feelings.
