AI7-Inspirational Night?
04/08/08Why wasn't I "feelin' it, dawg?"
So, I was bored. I watched AI7 tonight hoping to hear some inspirational songs that would give me clarity, or if not clarity food for thought, about the world situation, the state of our country, or even just my own lesser concerns with my personal life. I was really let down. I noticed that for the most part, the contestants were talking about making their "dreams come true", "following their star", etc. One young lady even made her song about "singing a song that tomorrow they'll have forgotten you ever sung....but sing it anyway." What a far cry from wanting to use your fame to make a difference.
So, I did what I always do after watching American Idol. I went to my clack supply and watched Clay's performances from last summer in Cary and Asheville and thanked my lucky stars that Clay is the performer from AI that I admire most. Tonight, I had an extra bonus though....the INSPIRATIONAL new song we got this week, On My Way Here. The lyrics to that song make me thankful to be alive....recognizing all the painful things that I won't go into here that have brought me at this point in my life where I know for a fact that I am loved, am stronger and still more compassionate for having known when to stand up and when to let go. Clay promised that this cd would have songs that we all can relate to in our own lives. This joyful song of hope and inspiration, OMWH, has already fulfilled that promise. In the end, it really does all work out. Because that one lasting instance of LOVE makes all the thousands of denials along the way mere dots on the horizon. Life is such a blessing. And a life where you are loved and give love is the greatest source of inspiration anyone could wish for.
