I'd be remiss if I didn't post a giant THANK YOU to Clay for allowing me to read my story at Cleveland on Monday night!!! I was so scared to get up in front of a crowd that size, but I figured I only knew ten or so people in the audience, so I might as well let the butterflies go and give it my best shot. What no one knew (but probably should have guessed seeing how nervous I was) is that ever since I was a small child, I have been really afraid of performing on a stage. All of my kids are natural-born entertainers and being on stage is no big deal to them...but they must have gotten it from their dad. I have had this fear ever since I was about 5 or 6 years old and was supposed to sing Away in the Manger at our church Christmas pageant. I got out on the stage and totally couldn't say a word. And it's been 50 years now since I even dared try again. Talk about holding onto your fears. LOLOL! I sure don't forsee a future as a stand-up comic, but I am feeling a sense of accomplishment since Monday night. If you were there and laughed or cheered me on, you may not know (until now) how much it meant to me.
What's next....rappelling, bungee jumping, going to the store alone after dark? There's no limit to what you might see me do next. You never know, you really never know.
