Sliding Doors
07/05/06Well it's a blog for a blog time and now he's gone and done 2 in 12 hours and well sorry, but it's only 1 for me :) But it sure is nice to hear from him. :)
For some reason the movie "Sliding Doors" popped in my head..if you haven't seen it; it's a Gwyneth Paltow film about what happens if a certain event does or does not take place.. it follow the scenario if she had made it inside the closing subway door and if she had missed the train.. 2 very different lives occur. I just tried to imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't watched the second season of Idol or even heard of Clay or if he had never been on Idol (yikes!!).. certainly not the same. I would not have met the number of wonderful people that I have and made all these wonderful new friends, I would not have found message boards or even have a clue about blogs, downloads, cellcerts or cellstreams. It's amazing sometimes what one event can do to change the fabric of your life and change the decisions that you make going forward.. you purchase a new computer and it has to have every bell and whistle.. you have high speed internet installed while your hubby is out of town so he won't be complaining (until it's too late) about the black cable that is running up the side of the house to the second floor and your calendar is no longer filled with meetings and appointments, but concert dates & tv appearances. I know I would probably be more of a workaholic than I am now and I'd have the contant feeling that something was missing.
I would never have thought that my life would take this path; but I'm more than happy that it did. There are so many other things that have happened in my life that I wonder what or who would I be today if I had done this instead... it really is a study in choices or is it really.. some things happen and we don't have control over them or what they will lead to, life is an adventure... we take the good with the bad.
There are so many sliding doors in our lives; so many what ifs.. it can be overwhelming sometimes. I can honestly say that I never regret the choice to "follow" Clay.. it's a door that I'm glad I made it thru. We have more doors ahead of us as does Clay and hopefully we will all get a chance to enjoy what's ahead together.
Now if I could just get my husband to go out of town for a while so I could get another internet hook-up downstairs and get digital cable installed with the DVR.. I'm anticipating a boat load of clack ahead. :)
I may have to come back if he keeps blogging and teasing us about his little "lottery game".... I'm not complaining :)
