WHITE SOX ROCK & Susan Sarandon

10/08/05

WOW!!!! The White Sox won the Divisional Series. This is the first time since 1917 (or is it 18) they have won a playoff series; long overdue!! I attended the second game and it was just awe inspiring. In a town where the Cubs get all the attention regardless of how good or bad the team is; it was awesome to see a full "Cell" and so much love. It was loud and the whole place just sparkled. Right before the first pitch I just looked around and it was so amazing; I was so emotional, I never thought it would hit me like that. And the game itself was everything a playoff should be; tight, good plays, great pitching; a battle till the end. Now it's on to the AL Championship against either the Angels or the Yankees. Not sure which is better or worse; but I know the Boys will bring it and hopefully we can make it to the series!! Unfortunately I won't be seeing any of the next series games. Thursday they went on sale and the ticket angst involved was far worse than any Clay Aiken ticket sale has ever caused me. After 25 minutes of Ticketmaster counting me down BOOM, no tickets available. Tried all 4 games and nothing. How disappointing. So I guess it's a bag of peanuts a cold beverage and the TV for me!! I went to the opening of the Chicago International Film Festival on Thursday at the Chicago Theatre (home of Clay's Chicago JNT stop) and it was such fun. They were honoring Susan Sarandon who arrived right as we got there. She walked the red carpet and was stunning. So hard to beleive she is 59. The Film Festival honored her with it life time achieivement award and then Roger Ebert interviewed her on stage as well as Cameron Crowe as the premiere film was "Elizabethtown" Cameron's film (which Susan is also in). Now on to the film.... I wish I could say I loved it; there are parts of it that are just hysterical and so charming and Orlando Bloom is fantastic, but the Kirsten Dunst character is never fleshed out and the film could have gone on without the character. You never really know anything about her and it was just diapponting. Of course like most Crowe movies the music and the use of it are wonderful; although there is a whole section at the end of the movie that seems like music filler to me, but fun music for sure. There are a few continuity problems in the film too. They obviously had to bring Kirsten and Orlando back to do a few scenes and her hair is totally different and it's obvious. That and his socks change colors in a scene too. I know picky picky. The socks I can deal with, but the hair thing was irratating. The movie is worth seeing just for Susan, Orlando, the comedy and the music. So I'm done babbling now. Time to get into playoff mode and also ticket angst part 2 or 3 or 4 I've lost count, the Chicago tickets go on sale on Tuesday, AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Off to work.
