Ljubljana

03/03/06

Off from Croatia to Ljubljana (lyOO'blyänä) without a map. Sounds crazy! Well... luckily it was just one road, yet somehow we still got lost! Not horribly though.

In our classes during JNT, Gregory and I learned about the capitals of European countries. It took us forever to figure out how to pronounce Ljubljana, so it became our favorite. For that reason, it was the most important destination on this trip.

Ljubljana is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. It has all of the amazing old world European charm and still all of the fancy amenities that one would expect and want in a modernized city. Best of all, with only around 250,000 residents, it never seems crowded at all. Kristy and I took a walking tour around the city center. It looked massive on the walking map we had, but was in fact only about 15 blocks total. We hit up Ljublana's two story McDonald's (A highlight for me! HA HA!) Ljubljana has an amazing cobblestone walking area that has really cool architecture and some great old shops and restaurants. Maybe it's because of Slovenia's proximity to Italy, I don't know, but we had some of the best Italian food in Ljubljana that I have ever had in my life. Check out some of the shots of the area. The people were just so nice and the sights were just so cool that I almost didn't notice that I couldn't feel my fingers or toes!

Next stop: Budapest!
