The vacation from.... eastern Europe
03/02/06I have been away for a minute. Sorry. I just recently returned from an EVENTFUL "vacation" to Europe that got me the sickest I think I have ever been in my life! How exciting, huh? So, let's talk about something that REALLY happened...
I thought I'd try to share some pictures. NO! Not of me being sick, but of the fun stuff that happened before I experienced all of the wonder that is the European healthcare community!
We actually took a driving tour of several countries. Our plan: Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Austria, and Czech Republic. Our reality: ....well... we'll start with Croatia!
Kristy and I flew in to Zagreb, Croatia for a driving tour of eastern Europe. I've always wanted to go eastern Europe, so while the summer crowds were down we decided to jet set.
We got off the plane and headed into a foreign country with absolutely no plan whatsoever!! Kristy and I are both such control freaks that taking a trip without knowing where we are or how to communicate was a first (and potentially a last!)
We landed in Zagreb and I realized that I had forgotten the maps of the cities we were going to and the directions to the places we were going. Oops! So much for the minimal plans we had in place. Fortunately the folks in Zagreb are extremely friendly and helpful.
Zagreb is a city full of history, great architecture, and open air markets full of people who don't seem to care that the temperature is lower than most industrial freezers! YES.. it was cold as MESS! (That knowledge could be a precursor to the inevitable.....more to come on that) To be honest with you, it was so cold that's almost all that I remember.
Take a look at some of the photos Kristy and I tried to take. (I may be able to sing, but I'm not the best photographer. Be glad that I don't TAKE the pictures at meet and greets on tour.) The pictures should be up very shortly!
After we left Croatia, we drove (without directions!) to Slovenia's capital city, Ljubljana. Will tell you about that next!
