10/16/07Well, first let me start by repeating that we don’t announce anything until it is a done deal. When rumors start flying, we let them fly and don’t address them until there is an official decision. Therefore, there will be times when you hear tell of this, that, or the other that may or may not happen. The fact that you find something out somewhere other than the OFC or hear about something and it hasn’t been mentioned here does NOT mean that the OFC is lagging behind. It simply means that it is doing everything it can to make sure that when something is posted as news, it is as guaranteed as it can be. That doesn’t mean it is always right, but if it isn’t there will be a correction made as soon as possible. Trust me. Updating this site is not something that is done in someone’s spare time. It is a daily task and every effort is made to be sure that you get information as SOON as it is available and CONFIRMED. We always strive to make any announcements post here before they are announced elsewhere, even if it’s just a few minutes. (In fact, in today’s case, TPTB made very sure that you OFC members were given this press release a full half hour before it is released to the press) (And, as trivial as 30 minutes may sound… don’t kid yourselves… you folks are unbelievable in how far you can spread news in 30 minutes!) For that reason, we can say that you get the most up to date information here. Because, if you read it here you can know it’s true.
That said….
I am very excited about joining the amazing folks at Spamalot. It’s not really your typical Broadway show. There are a lot of great shows on Broadway, but I think Spamalot really holds the title for being the freshest and most original. It’s amazing how much the fun of Monty Python has endured. Some thirty years after audiences were first introduced to the very unique humor of Monty Python, folks are still laughing out loud at it every night. I think that is amazing. It’s almost unheard of! It’s easily the funniest show on Broadway, so I am excited about being given the opportunity to be a part of something that will let me be my silly, stupid self!
Ladies, this is a show everyone loves. You wont have to drag your husband to this one! ;) You’ll have to drag him out!
Despite the comments of a certain caustic judge, I had never really considered a foray into Broadway. But, since I have moved home to North Carolina, I have had the chance to spend more time in New York City, and had the opportunity to take in some Broadway shows. I am constantly amazed by the amount of talent that is on the stages of New York City. Many of the folks on Broadway are some of the MOST talented people in this country. With that in mind, I am really honored to have been asked to try it myself.
In addition to being amazing singers, dancers, and actors, these folks have some real endurance. Eight shows a week beats the heck out of a typical tour schedule. Seeing the commitment of folks who pull this off week after week sort of presented a challenge to me. Taking part in a show alongside some of these multi-talented performers will definitely force me to stretch! A show like Spamalot seems to be such a departure from what I have been doing for the past four years. This show is not just a change of scenery from many typical Broadway shows, I think it is also a great opportunity for a temporary shift for me. So, I’m really pumped about being able to branch out. A little variation is always nice. And, it’s a chance to learn and grow. Lets cross our fingers on that!
On top of all of that, I really couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful group of people to work with. Lets not lie, the chance to work with legendary creative minds like Mike Nichols and Eric Idle is, on its own, a reason to jump at this opportunity. But, that’s not all. The producers and creative folks I have had the chance to meet and work with so far have been unbelievably welcoming and wonderful. They’ve really made me feel at home already, and I haven’t even started yet!
So, the call is out! Come one! Come all! For the past few years, we’ve done our best to come to you. And, many of you have even followed us around the country. So, for the first several months of 2008. I’ll be sitting still at the Shubert Theatre in Manhattan. Gas up the car, and take another road trip! I’ll be there waiting with tights on!
And, worry not! Our next album is still chugging along as planned! Jaymes and I (and our secret producer… don’t want to tell you EVERYTHING all at once!) are in the studio this very week working on some really great stuff! The release date won’t be affected at all! Whew! I’m sweating just THINKING about how busy the beginning of next year is gonna be!
Oh… Yeah… I STILL love the Christmas tour! Jesse, Sean, and our favorite ladies, Quiana and Angela will be back with us on the road for a great time on Joyful Noise 2007: Christmas in The Heartland! Don’t miss it! See you there I hope!
And see you in the Big Apple too!
Love c
P.S.—Just think about how great Spamalot tickets would be as Christmas presents! Ladies, you can give them to your husbands, and he’ll think they are a GREAT gift! He doesn’t have to know they are really for you!!! ;)
P.P.S. - I see you liked Nick’s car! Did you really think I would be stupid enough to drive MY car to a place where I knew you would be standing around with video cameras? ;)
