Targeting the Moon
07/15/05I can't believe I get to see Clay two weeks from today. I bought a new necklace and a little pocketbook to go with my outfit. I was debating whether to wear my leather pants because Sgt. CB doesn't know that I even own any. There aren't "slutty" leather pants or too tight Cherie leather pants. They are more like lined trousers and are quite comfortable. All my other concerts are outdoors and as others have noted, I don't want to do my impression of Ross and the baby powder on Friends.
When I first started looking, I ordered a brown pair that had a yellow design from a website. They came in and I found that the design was a yellow sunburst and it framed my crotch quite nicely. I thought that was pushing it so I returned them and found this pair from Neiman Marcus that was marked down to $75 from $250. I tried them on in our master closet and when I heard him coming up the stairs, I threw them behind some other clothes and then tried to wave the leather smell out of the closet. I am sure I looked like a kid getting caught smoking in the bathroom. If he asked, I was going to tell him I bought a new briefcase or something.
Anyway, after Clay mentioned 70's funk and 80's hair bands yesterday, I told Nanjeanne that I am SO wearing my leather pants. If Sgt. CB makes fun of me, I will tell him that it was her idea. I use that excuse often.
Our neighbors have added on to their house with a second garage. He was mad because it blocked his view from his favorite La-Z-Boy chair. This would be the one with the big hole in the seat that will disappear soon if I have anything to say about it. My family room is like Frasier Crane's. All nice, new furniture and one ugly old chair. Anyway, he did realize that this new garage also blocked other people from seeing into our pool. Last night I think there was a full moon, but it wasn't in the sky.
Today's marketing blog word of the day is TARGET.
Your target market is one that you specifically identify by a variety of factors ranging from gender to region to age to income for B2C marketing (business to consumer) or other factors including revenue, industry, business drivers, etc. for B2B marketing (business to business). I'm a fan of target marketing, especially when you have the $3.00 per year marketing budget that I have. Of course, it takes a lot of work to identify the best target market for your business because you don't want to miss the target, literally.
I've been wondering what Clay's target market is for this new album. I think he could have more than one target because his fan base is so broad. (not to be confused with so many Broads).
Target is also the store where I buy Clay's CDs and go to re-arrange the shelves so that he gets good positioning. Target did a crappy job of stocking MCWL this year.
Target is also what the clack gatherers focus on during a concert. It's a shame how their cameras keep slipping out of their hands because often their target seems to be well south of his face. After all, the American Marketing Association states that selecting your target market means you use research to identify favorable locations.
