Insider News? and more

07/27/06

Press Release day? Maybe. Maybe Not.

I've not been set on any certain day or week because we have not heard anything from Clay to indicate we should be anticipating anything to happen. I'll be excited whenever it happens.

The one item that keeps bouncing around in my brain is the OFC membership renewal date. We were given an extension until September 1st. Why? What happens September 1st? For artists that have had their websites re-launched with their new cds... at what point in their promotion was the re-launch? Does there seem to be any pattern?

Insider news... I like to "read" the insider news because most of it gives us something to speculate about, and for me, it is always just speculation until it happens (or doesn't). The insider news I enjoy reading the most is anything related to positive industry "buzz". It may or may not be skewed by the poster's perceptions, but it is just plain exciting to even think that the "industry" is enthusistic about our guy. I'd rather hear that than the critics who still hold on to "too-cool-for-school" old views without attempting to discover what is reality.

I do miss seeing Clay on my TV screen. I miss fresh clack. But, I know it will happen at some point and I'll be ready whenever that is.

I've shared quite a bit here about the situation with my youngest son (21yr old) being diagnosed with a brain tumor and what we've been going through as he completes treatment. This week, although, of course, he is always on my mind, I want to give kudos to my daughter. She has just been a godsend for me.

My move to the Chicago area, just shortly before my son was diagnosed, was precipitated by my own health issues My daughter had settled in this area and wanted me to be closer geographically. She has been a tremendous support emotionally and financially. I treasure this because we went through some rough times when she was a teen-ager, although we both always knew the love flowed both ways anyway. She is now 25.

She has a busy schedule but we have developed a routine of meeting for lunch once a week. This week we stopped in a convenience store to pick up some items. We were at the check-out and giggling with each other because she dropped something and it was just "one of those moments." The clerk, in broken English said something to my daughter about "your Mom is a good mom, huh?" My daughter's response? "My mom RAWKS!!" Now, tell me a mom that doesn't enjoy hearing that from their child?

So, I guess at the end of the week, as I'm "patiently" waiting on Clay, I just have to say, "My daughter RAWKS!"
