I was feeling better about all this early this morning, then my dad came.

He was going to just put the new electric panel in the wall for the electrican, so all he would have to do is hook it up. He was looking at how everything is configured, and he said there are a ton of code violations with the way my electric service is set up. He said it would probaby take a licensed electrician a few days to fix the mess, then 3 more days until it gets inspected. I could be without electricity for almost a week. I've contacted another electrician and haven't heard from him. I'll have to start calling others tomorrow.

I wish I had a magic wand and this was all done and over with. That, or wish I had a house that wasn't so old and complicated to deal with.
