Fangirly no more

07/16/05

I'll be honest. I was feeling very fangirly yesterday and today because of his blogs and his radio interviews. But now? It's dissapeared. Completely gone. The TV guide interview was beyond depressing, in my opinion. It was full of "Pity me please!" And to be honest, I hate that.

Clay, if you are as miserable as this interview suggests, have you ever thought of just packing it up and going home? It's been over two years and it's the same story. If nothing has changed, then maybe it's time for you to make a change?

I'm not sure what the purpose was of making L.A. to seem like hell on earth but it wasn't a very smart move. What a great way to alienate a huge part of the fanbase and diminish any possiblity of gaining new fans. Also, it's a good way to burn potential bridges for networking in the music industry.

Work... sometimes it sucks and sometimes you don't like the people that you have to deal with but in order to be successful (like being able to buy expensive houses, cars, and renting vacation homes) you have to suck up and simply deal with it. You don't bad mouth it in a public interview on TV guide.

I'm not sure what I was supposed to feel after reading that interview but if it was supposed to make me feel sorry for him, I don't. He's a rich man with a life that many would enjoy and has an amazing talent with his voice that many artists would kill for. This interview makes him sound like he is the "poor little rich girl" except he's a boy. His fans have made him rich and yet he doesn't enjoy meeting with them. His life in L.A. has given him plenty of opportunities to create a musical career that many dream of and have worked so hard for, and all he wants is to get the heck out of there. He has achieved so much fame, fortune, and opportunity in the past two years that others spend decades trying to get, and he makes it seem so un-worthy. He says he doesn't like the people in L.A. for many different reasons but yet he decides to isolate himself from any part of a social life there that really, what else would he think? He says God gave him his voice so he could do something more with it. Well, that's fine but really, anyone can do charitable endevours, Clay. In fact, other celebrities are doing just that as we speek. It's not hard. And in fact, anyone can do it. Any common ol' man or woman, rich or not, celebrity or not. But... here is the thing, just how many people here on this earth has the voice that you have, Clay? How many have this absolutely amazing gift to sing such amazing notes and to create such emotion and joy in people from simply listening to it?

I dunno.... maybe it's just me, but I think that is what you should be focusing on. Right now, I think you're wasting it.
