Well I'll be d*mned.
07/15/05I'm becoming fangirly again. I didn't know if I ever would again but here is Clay Aiken, playing his cards really well. He looks good, is doing well in interviews, is talking about his music, hasn't talked too much about his mama or the family-friendly/role model mantra, is writing freaking blogs on his official site for gawd sake, and now he's saying he wants to someday love somebody enough to write a love song? Oh my. Oh my, oh my, oh my. If this continues, the cynical part of my fandom may die down to nothing. Is this Clay Aiken we're talking about here? Is he actually learning from his mistakes? Listening to suggestions? Willing to grow and expand himself? Growing musically? D*mn. I'm actually getting excited again. And I like it!
Before I was just midly intrigued with his next album but now I am getting a little excited. My only wish now is to hear what kind of music Clay will be doing on Son of MOAM. Details, I want details. At this point, with my anticipation increasing, I'm up for anything but bland pop or too much inspirational/CCM music.
I find it interesting that he is looking for music that fits him and not simply goes well with radio or TV. I admire that. This is how an artist should think. Success in radio and TV are nice goals but they shouldn't overpower the musical goals of an artist. I'm happy to hear this from him. My only concern is what kind of music is Clay talking about? If it is good quality pop or AC music, then great! If it is like I said before, bland, inspirational, CCM stuff, then my anticipation will dwindle once again. So basically Clay, I need to know what's going on here. I need to know whether I should stop chewing my nails or not. Do I get excited? Do I not? And to think I haven't "worried" like this for many, many months. For the time being, I will enjoy it. It's a good feeling, getting excited about my favourite singer again.
