All Is Well, Washington, D.C., December 2.

That's all I got.

ETA, 12-4: I really do stink at recaps because I have very little recall. Moments of life are fleeting, but a few stick around as either treasures or taunts.

One treasure from the D.C. concert was watching the orchestra's utter delight in the recognition Clay (and Jesse) gave them. The first cellist for Concert Artists of Baltimore, Gita Ladd (scroll down to view her bio), just beamed through the rest of the concert, and Clay seemed to flirt with her during DSIAFCD. She bowed that cello very enthusiastically!

So after the concert was over I gave her one of my extra District of Clay magnets to commemorate the evening, and she seemed tickled. I hope we Clay fans made as good an impression on the orchestra as Clay seemed to.

A little behind-the-scenes snippet: The show was a little late starting, and I think I know why. Maybe it's even my fault, who knows.

My friend's story that was read in Wichita (about the mother whose son was killed right before Christmas) was selected to be read again on Sunday, but as of five minutes till curtain there was no reader. Apparently, whoever was at the rehearsal just didn't show up - or maybe Team Clay's late arriving e-mail never reached the person they wanted to read.

In the theater itself, everyone had to put away their cellphones and cameras or risk being escorted out, so there was no way for anyone backstage to find a back-up reader from the audience!

Turns out, when I checked my voice messages on my way home from the show, my friend had been trying to reach me to pinch hit. There were no "missed call" messages, though, so I doubt Team Clay really was trying to call me. They were probably trying to reach Farouche again, who read the story (beautifully, I presume) in St. Louis.

Anyway, it all worked out for the best. The woman who read the story in D.C. did just fine - probably more persuasively than I could have, since I'm not a mother.

There is a little more to this story, but I'll just keep it to myself. They seem to like secrets around here....

love, hosaa Dealing with my fear of complexity and paralyzing self-doubt. Only not.

ETA 12-5: A thousand pardons to anyone miffed at being bumped. The edit that bumped this blog just now is in the entry below, about the skater montage.
