I finished the Kite Runner last night. At first, I found it pretty depressing, and it wasn't doing a whole lot to alleviate the funk I've been in lately. But I persevered, and I'm glad I did. What an amazing book! It really sucked me in about halfway through, and I couldn't put it down. So many twists and turns that I didn't expect, and yes, at one time I had to stop myself from yelling at it or throwing it across the room. The last few chapters were difficult, but the ending was fantastic.

I am so impressed that Clay thinks enough of us to share book recommendations with us, especially for something like this, that maybe wouldn't be on our radar otherwise. He seems like quite a complex guy. I really don't think I know anyone like him in RL. He always surprises me, and keeps me guessing.

One thing that I noticed about this book, is that the relationships are mainly about men - father/son, best friends, brothers.....and that must have been interesting for him to read, since he has spoken about how he was mainly raised by women. I'd love to hear more of his thoughts on the book and the themes that run throughout the book. Maybe he'll post more in his next blog. Of course, if he felt like posting mubla news instead, I wouldn't be complaining!
