Spamalot
01/09/09I traveled with my sister and gardennut to see Spamalot.
I traveled with my sister and gardennut to see Spamalot last weekend. You have read many accounts of OMC in Spamalot, so I’ll tell a few of my favorite parts. Who am I fooling, I loved the whole show 6 times.
Gardennut had never seen Clay in person, so she was way passed excited.
The first show was great. We had A row seats, right under Clay’s nose. I had on my Bubel/ Aiken shirt I think it was noticeded by Clay maybe, probably not.
Clay had the most bored expression during the tower scene, so funny. He had boredom and distain for the king down pat.
The befuddled and dense Sir Robin is so endearing. His face must be made of rubber, the expressions he had throughout the play are just priceless. Using his tongue seems to be part of his Sir Robin mannerisms. He didn’t do it as much the last show.
The Yodel as the fans call it sounds more operatic to me. It really shows his vocal ranger. His voice is just beautiful. That is a major understatement.
I love the piano scene. He flipped that tunic high all the shows but the last one. In that one he did just a mini flip and then turned around, his smirk said ha, you don’t everything you want. The crowd roared.
I like the part when Clay turns from piano throw one leg over the other, eye vamps the crowd stands and stamps to burlesque-like music and then into the bottle dance. Clay shows such concentration during that dance. No wonder he hurt the first few weeks, he must have very strong thighs now.
Clay plays the guard different than he did last year (Feb.- May.) Last year the guard was drunk. This time he just very dense, I think it is much funnier this way.
The Camalot scene, Clay was like an eager boy in a candy store looking under girls shirts, chasing them and he kissed one the last night. I could have missed seeing him puckering on the other nights but I don’t know how, I didn’t take my eyes off him most of the time.
The crowds loved his YWSOB. The last night they had to wait until the crowd quieted down to continue. What a voice.
Another favorite part of mine is where Clay dances out in the white tux. He is full of confidence now and no longer the dense befuddled knight. He found his grail. He is so handsome. The last night we got to see his beautiful mane.
There was only two SD while I was there. The weather was so cold and windy the whole time. One night I took a picture, had a playbill signed and handed a present to Jerome all at the same. Maybe I should learn to sing and dance.
The last show we sat right behind Brent. His group enjoyed the show as much we did.
The gift I gave Clay was a tiny tour badge printed with Summer Tour 2009, VIP Parker Foster Aiken , the reverse side had Jukebox Tour 2. . I also included a little shirt printed with 5230 on the chest. Do you think that was a big enough hint?
