I am very annoyed. Picture this: our house is smack in the center of a T intersection. We live on the main street that runs east and west (the bus route through the community) and look north up the intersecting side road (ISR). There is a manhole almost in the center of the ISR at the alley way which is one house north of us. The city has been doing some sewer work so the cover is loose. They had put a barracade up and a warning so no one could drive over the cover. Last night some "kids" (I didn't see them or hear them) moved all the barracade and warnings onto the main street. They had the street blocked off so traffic (including the buses) wouldn't have been able to get through. A car going over the loosened manhole cover woke me up. So there I was at 3:30am phoning the police so they could have city workers come and remove the barracade and put it back where it belonged. Except they didn't. They send one lone man out and he simply moved everything to the side of the street. Every time a vehicle turned down the ISR they went over the cover making a racket. I didn't get any sleep from 3:30 on. Stupid vandals.

My cat gave up the fight to get me upstairs. She finally settled down in her bed on her afghan and is sound asleep. I am in a dilemma - do I wish for the mailman to ring the doorbell and give me THE package thusly distrubing Sapphire so she starts yelling again. Or do I hope he justs puts THE package in the mailbox thereby squishing it but doesn't disturb old Sapphire. Ring the doorbell, please!!!!!
