Tribute to my dad

06/21/09

Since this is Fathers day and I did a tribute to mom on mothers day, I dediced to give dad equal tribute this fathers day.

  • My dad, Arthur.

My dad was born in the late 30's and is now age 70. He grew up in a family of traveling carnival people. His dad was the ride maintenance man on the carnival, which made life quite interesting. He once told me he had been to every state in the U.S. by the time he was 17. Then he joined the army where he saw 7 foreign countries. While I was growing up ,if we were traveling during the summer, Dad could spot the Carnival spotlight from off in the distance and he would say. " My dads there." Invariably we would stop, and sure enough there would me grandpa working on the carnival. It was fun for us kids,me and my brother ,because we got to ride the rides everytime we stopped. I liked the ferris wheel. Grandfather has long past on, but I have many fun memories of the Carnival. My dads stepsister and her husband still own that ferris wheel today.

Dad was the guy that took me and my brother sledding in the winter and to the motorcycle races in the summer. Although he rarely went in swimming, he got us a membership to a local lake every summer, where we camped and swam. Today he and my mother attend quilt shows together. He has been a little laid up this year due to knee surgery, but is recovering quit well. Hopefully he will be able to dance again when me and my brother throw him and mom a party on their 50th wedding aniversary this August.

Happy Fathers day to all the dads out there.!

I know this guy just has to be having a great fathers day also!

Have a great Fathers day!
