Cowboy hat and fan

07/13/07

Excitement built as July 4th approached. We had rain everyday seems like for the last 2 months and I had everyone I know doing a “STOP the rain” dance. Finally, July 4th at about noon here came the rain just a small shower and then the clouds parted and blue skies and sunshine!! I did not get a meet and greet nor have I ever had a meet and greet but it was exciting for me and here’s why. I drive to the venue with my sister and her husband (his first Clay concert ever) my mom (her first Clay concert) and my great niece. We parked right in front of the gates and got out of the SUV to hang out. Little did I know I just parked between Clay mates? To the right of my vehicle came Pat and her husband Nick from Ohio and to the left came Terha, school teacher from California. We talked and shared stories and spent the day together in the parking lot. It was exciting and of course we took walks around the venue looking for “our man”. We finally went on in about 10 minutes before the soccer game was over. We all went our separate ways to find our seats. I was waiting by the steps leading down to the field and once they gave the word I don’t think I ever ran so hard and so fast in all my life!! But I was on a mission “front and center “yup, that’s where I ended up. I then was tapped on the back and there was Pat and then someone called my name it was Terha. We all ended up together for the whole show. Close to the end I got a chance to put the cowboy hat and the hand held fan on a rope on the stage and to my surprise he saw it, picked it up and put the hat on his head and fumbled with the fan before putting it in his left pocket. I was so excited and the next day no voice left but worth every minute. Gave my husband a day of quite time!! After all, had to rest up for the next day Houston!! Drove to Houston got to the hotel and can you believe it, Pat and her husband Nick standing in the lobby. We went to dinner and then to the venue together, we were not one of the lucky ones who got to see Clay after the show but my day will come (I HOPE). Some people at work told me that he trashed the hat once off the show and I say that’s ok but HE WORE THE HAT!!!!!!!! Thanks Clay for making my day, the 4th of July will never be the same and the song God Bless the USA will always put a smile on my face! So I went to the Frisco show with the intent of giving the hat and fan to Clay, but never really thought I would get to and now that I did I wish I would have at least put my name on one of the items just so he would know who gave it to him. Ok well.

P.S. How about a Christmas date for Texas??
