"Fun"draising?

10/20/09

I don't know who put the "FUN' in fundraising.....

it only makes me think they never had to do it.

Sorry I haven't shared any adventures lately, been so busy having them I have not had time to blog.

It might be the end of summer and baseball season but not for the parents of the 2010 Cooperstown team.

Husband who is gifted in the area of math is the fundraising treasurer. Now since he puts in all the extra hours and has to run reports, spread sheets and all that fun stuff. Running to deposit the stuff people bring to our house, I have come to the conclusion that I should be excluded from any other responsibilities when it comes to fundraising.

I have found a house to live in while in Cooperstown next summer. ( with room for my in-laws and MY mother). Older son will be playing possibly 3 games daily.... that leaves me to entertain young son.

I have cleaned out half my basement, attic, and the boy's closets ( I am an organization freak but that isn't the reason I cleaned out all these spaces and have a mound of crap in my garage). A Cooperstown Family Garage Sale !! It has been postponed due to the weather and now I believe is going to be scheduled for this coming Sunday. Older son has a game out of town that I will most likely not be able to attend because I will be with the other Cooperstown selling all the crap. I know somewhere in the Bible there is a rule against that...

My therapist is even giving me her crap to sell at the sale. Now I ask you THAT has to count as going above and beyond and I have 'earned" the right to completly avoid this crap sale.

Now aside from the weather not cooperating...we are moving into the holiday season and they have handed me a form to sell wreaths. I was all happy to order a pretty "victorian" wreath because I liked the bow and it matched the colors that I recycle every Christmas. Nope. Much easier to order only the "Traditional" one red bow and 3 pine cones. They are planning to order these in 11 days so people will have them in time for Thanksgiving. Okay so I sold 6 of those and told husband and young son they are responsible for the next six. I have already hit up all the relatives I like so I guess they need to hit up the relatives we don't like.

Having "FUN" yet?

Underneath the paperwork for the wreaths.... I found yet another form. Cheesecake? Besides crap, wreaths they also want me to ask people to buy cheesecake?

Now this was a no brainer. I didn't even flinch when I threw out the form. UNDER NO circumstances after asking people to buy a wreath will I ask them to buy a $20.00 cheesecake... Sorry ain't happening. I don't like cheesecake, so no one I know needs a cheesecake. No one has a big enough freezer to freeze a cheesecake. Think this will get me thrown off the fundraising train? Yeah, I think that too, the answer is NO.

I also need to chair/co-chair a money making venture during the next year. Luckily I was able to find another mother who I play nicely with ( a miracle I assure you) and we are selling " Easter Candy" in the spring. So I am stepping up to the plate and fulfilling my role. Will it be a " money making venture"? I can't make any promises - if no one wants to buy candy I'm not going to force them. I don't even buy my own boy's Easter candy. Get a grip ... deal with it. Maybe by then they will have made all the money they need and will be done with all this "FUN".

So anyone interested in purchasing some crap? a wreath? I know, I know what you really need is a cheesecake.... I'm so sorry I have misplaced that order form.....

God Bless
