[82] I'm Still Sober

12/29/07

I think I've deprived you all of Hollywood's Blog long enough.

Life has really been hectic. I still haven't got round to completing my McFLY Meet & Greet and Concert Review thanks to illness. I took ill around a week before the gig, and really have only recovered about a week. I've been on antibiotics on and off all year, and been on one almost constantly since September. I seem to be okay now though; fingers crossed that 2008 will be a healthy year for my whole family.

X Factor came to a pleasing close for me; Leon Jackson took the title with Christmas Number One by covering Mariah Carey and Diana Ross' When You Believe. I remember way back in August, the third episode of X Factor was being shown, and I was in the Children's Hospice for viewing. I saw him, who I thought then to be called "Liam" thanks to my hearing, and went "This could be good...". As soon as he opened his mouth tears came to my eyes. He auditioned on his own with no support, his Father wanting nothing to do with him since birth and his Mum thinking singing was a dead end for him. Sharon Osbourne asked him who he was there with, and his reply "I just came by myself" prompted her to give him the first congratulations before turning to Simon Cowell to say he's "a cutie", to which both Simon and Louis Walsh proclaimed he made their day. I picked up my phone to tell everyone to tune in; my guess for the winner was on TV. Leon went through, and scraped his way through Bootcamp and Mentors Houses due to nerves. His first two weeks on the live stage were weak; nerves pulling away from his physical performance while his vocals still soared. Then came Big Band Week; Leon's mentor Danii Minogue picking Fly Me To The Moon was probably the best thing she could have done for him. Flinging his fist in the air and grinning from ear to ear I knew he'd come into his own; and he did. The final, which I thought he almost wouldn't make thanks to nerves kicking in at the Semi-Final, was amazing. Rhydian and Same Difference, fellow contestents, pulled every trick out of the hat; but Leon's background, personality, humour and falsetto really pulled it out of the bag for him on the night.

The video for When You Believe, which details Leon's journey from his first audition on the 3rd of July in Glasgow right up to the final on the 19th of December, can be viewed here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSwHKVinxX0 - remember to leave comments and ratings!

Now to my life on the 19th of December. My Dad took a heart attack that morning, and although only slightly damaging the bottom of his heart was ill for some time. I, quite honestly, had my whole world turned upside down and didn't eat the whole day. My aunt came over from England early, and I had fights with Social Services to get a care package in. I'm so happy that I had Dad home over Christmas to give out his usual jokes and sarcasm which I give right back. Nothing can beat his one liners.

And Christmas; I told Mum so many times that all I wanted was a CD and a DVD by two UK artists. She, of course, went out and spent a whole load of money that we really can't afford, on me.

Honestly, that's my life in a nutshell right now; illness and music. Clay is still in there, and I'm sorry for neglecting this blog for so long.

Love y'all, Kylie xx
