About Aikenite
Hey folks! Just a short note to introduce myself. I'm a 27 year old substitute school teacher from Spokane and have been a fan of Clay's since the very start. I've only been to one concert, the IT show in Spokane (so Clay, you need to come back to the "inland northwest!"). I'd love to email with other fans though, especially anybody from around this area. TTYS!

04/10/06 1 CommentSpring Break should be two weeks long...
Hello everybody! I don't know why, but here's a rundown of my spring break trip to Montana...if you're interested!
The week started last Saturday, by spending the night in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Nice room on the river...loosing about $100 in the casino...what a great stay! :-)
The next morning we headed off to Columbia Falls, Montana...just a hop, skip and a jump from Glacier National Park. Driving up through Kalispell and the surrounding area, I couldn't believe the building and population boom since the last time I'd been there...unreal! But the traffic (worse in many ways than Spokane) and all the sub-divisions, couldn't spoil the beauty that you're surrounded by. The mountains, the rivers, the lakes. To die for. So we stayed at a beautiful resort called Meadow Lake, and I was going to try to downhill ski for the first time. Big Mountain ski resort is just up the road in Whitefish, and is one of the best mountains in the country. Of course, the day we go up...it decides to pour down rain...and I'm talking cats and dogs rain here. Turned the runs into ice rinks...not a great way to learn to ski...but I made it down the bunny hill once without falling!! But I have waaaay too many car payments, and I didn't want to push my luck, so we turned in our skis, where they gave us a complete refund!, and even validated our lift tickets for all of next season. I thought that was pretty cool! So, we spent the rest of the 4 days wandering around the area, going up to Hungry Horse Dam (when completed in 1953, the 4th largest in the world!) and watched lots of cable. Drag racing and CMT..whoo hoo!
We left Columbia Falls on Wednesday...destination, Great Falls, but of course, one of the seasons in Montana was under way - road construction! Good thing I was driving my truck! Anywho, we finally met up with the power guy, who is going to get the electricity on our property, and then headed into town. We always stay at the same hotel, the La Quinta that's right on the Missouri River...beautiful spot. And there's a computer for use by those staying there, and this is where the Clay part of this story comes in (you just had to know there was going to be one!!!) I checked email and then of course hit my usual haunts. I checked here first...no new blog, nothing much new. Then I went to RHT, and I had to grin, since it came up right after typing in www.re. I told you we always stay there!
But then something else shocking happened. I went to put in my username, and another one popped up. Somebody else, staying at the La Quinta in Great Falls, MT., had checked RHT. Such a small world. I thought that was just cool! Anywho, we played around a bit in GF, went fishing, made a couple trips to Helena, and suddently, it was Sunday morning, and we were heading home. All told, I put almost 1700 miles on my truck. And if I had another week, I'd put on another 1700. Great relaxing break from the teaching all week and folding towels at the "evil" Wal-Mart on the weekends. Gotta laugh at that. I worked for 3 different school districts since graduating from college in 2001, and have never had health insurance or even the option of buying into a plan and paying premiums. The first day at Wal-Mart...health coverage. And at that time, I was a temp for X-Mas. Such an evil empire.... Sorry...end of rant.
Well, the movie is almost over, so I better end this now. Hope everybody who was off for Spring Break enjoyed it, and those who weren't...hope you have some time to stop and take a deep breath of that fresh air. Only do that if you're in Montana though...other cities...not such good air! LOL!
