I finally had some alone time with my mom, and was able to tell her what's been on my mind for sometime.
I told her that I know both my sister and I have chores to do, but it seems like I'm the one that does everything, and my sister does nothing. My mom told me that she knows I do a lot, and that it's mainly because my sister's never home... but she also told that she knows I can just go ahead and get chores done, without help. And, my sister often needs my mom to help guide her through!!!
What I get from this: My mom's telling I can handle these things, and be independent!!! (Points for ME!!! lol)
I also told my mom that even when BOTH my sister and I are home, I'M the first one she asks about doing stuff for her (my mom). In response to that, my mom said she would try to balance that out more!!! (YAY!!!)
I also asked BOTH my parents why I'm always depended on to pay for my own stuff, and my sister often gets a "free ride"...
Well, they told that the fact of the matter is, is that my sister has been having trouble with the checks she gets (she's on SSI- a type of Social Security). Also, she doesn't have nearly as many work hours as I do, because she's in school. The money SHE makes is PURELY to be saved up for her next semester of college! Needless to say, she doesn't HAVE a lot of money, and she has trouble keeping track of her finances. I, on the other hand, work anywhere from 24-32 hours a week, get paid, pay my parents a certain amount a week, take out a certain for my own enjoyment, and keep the rest in to pay various credit card bills and such.
What I get from THAT: My sister has money troubles that will be difficult for her to manage, whereas I can manage my bank account and my credit cards (they won't even let my sister HAVE a credit card!)...
It apparently comes down to the fact that I AM very independent, and my sister's not!!! And, my parents are trying to help her out, and I'm capable of doing things on my own!!! :)
I should be proud of that... right???
At least my promised she'd try to be more fair!!! ;)
