When you enter this blog, you will soon recognize that besides my family and good friends my passions are music, writing, Carolina basketball, and a very special singer from NC who also has a journal on this site.

FAMILY: My daughter was raised in Tennessee and, as readers know, recently made her parents grandparents, too. Her mother was born in High Point, raised in Wilmington, attended college in Laurinburg and Greenville, married a Texan and followed the drummer there, became a Tennessean when we moved to Nashville, and 14 years ago wound up in Greensboro, 10 miles from where it all began.

MUSIC: Like just about everybody in my family, I am a musician and have been most of my life. A graduate of UT-El Paso, I have taught band and orchestra in Texas, Tennessee, and North Carolina and have played oboe in symphonies/ensembles along the way.

JOURNALISM:: I have enjoyed writing for newspapers in three states, beginning at age 16 with the Wilmington Star-News.

CAROLINA BLUE: Ever since I was a young girl, Tar Heel basketball has been a given. My father and I listened to the games on his radio before we had a TV.

CLAY AIKEN: Like many here, I came for the voice and stayed for the man. I appreciate Clay's personality, sense of humor, integrity, intelligence. Through selfless, caring, humanitarian acts, Clay demonstrates how to live life. Seeing and hearing him perform is a wonderful bonus that I hope he enjoys as much as we do.
