I'm a Japanese Clay fan since 2003.
I found Clay from the videos my American friend had back in 2003, she was getting them from the States every week, at that time "AI" was not being broadcasted here in Japan, but my friend told me that it was the most polular TV progaram in the States.
I fell in love with Clay the first time I saw him on video, his angelic and soaring voice really moved my heart!
In 2004, I had a chance to go to Raleigh/Durham area and in October I went to my very first Clay concert at the Fair Ground in Raleigh. I was so excited to see him on stage, his last song "Solitaire" was so moving. I recall seeing all the Claymates for the first time and I knew he was very polular wih so much support.
In 2005, Fox Japan started to broadcast "AI5", then most of the Japanese fans found Clay at the moment when he made an appearnace with that Michael Sandecki! Clay had a make over with different hair style, looked great!
One of the Japanese fans started a blog site and that's how our Japanese fans could all get together online, we met once in a while and talked about Clay, we became good friends thanks to Clay!
In 2007, about 15 of us went to the States to go to Clay's concerts, starting from San Diego, California then to Cary/Ashville. NC, all the Claymates there were so nice and kind, it sure was a "Once in a lifetime tour" for all of us. We all wore "Yukata", our summertime KIMONO.
I myself contimued to Florida alone and saw Clay once more in Tampa.
In 2007 October, I went to NY to atttend "Neil Sedaka's 50 years of hits" Gala Concert all by myself, I have been fan of Neil since I was a little girl. It was a dream match to see both Neil and Clay together at the same concert! I was sitting in the center, 2nd row, his performance of "Solitaire" was just amazing!
Then in 2008, I went to see "Spamalot" in Feb.and May (final week), it was so exciting to see Clay so close at the stage door! I think I saw the show about 8 times, can't remember! It was also so nice to meet many Clay fans there. Attended the CD signing and GMA at the ABC studio was also so exciting. It sure was like a "Dream Come True" experience for me.
Now I'm waiting for Clay's next tour!
