About GeorgiaClaymate
My name is Jenna and I live in Lawrenceville, Georgia which is about 35 miles north of Atlanta. I have been a fan of Clay's since the first time he sang during the auditions on American Idol. I was amazed when he opened his mouth and I have been following him since. Not only do I love his voice but I love his Christian testimony, his love for others and his humanitarian work. I am very active in the charities that he has started and those that he has shared with us. In 2004 I started a fan club group throughout Georgia so that we could come together and support his amazing talent and his work with children.
The Georgia Claymates, as we are known, are constantly working to promote Clay in our communities throughout the State . Out of respect for Clay, we try to do it in the most friendly and professional way that we can. Our goal is and always will be to share with others his amazing talent and giving nature, but to do so without being over the top or in any way that would be discouraging. When Clay is in town we usually have some sort of party/get together and we usually take the opportunity to raise awareness for Inclusion. We have hosted many BAF auctions and throughout the year we periodically hold fundraisers at our monthly meetings in order to raise funds for our BETA ALPHA group, G.A.I.N. (Georgians Advocating Inclusion Now) http://www.bubelaiken.org/default.aspx?tabid=111. Also, at Christmas, we volunteer ourselves, friends, family and anyone else who is interested in wrapping gifts at local stores for the BAF's Wrapping for Inclusion Awareness and Fundraiser Program. http://www.bubelaiken.org/WrappingforInclusion/tabid/162/Default.aspx
We have lots of fun at our monthly meetings where we talk about Clay, we share stories, photos, host contests, arrange for guest speakers who speak to us on various topics and we watch clack. Periodically we host a silent auction at our meetings where members are encouraged to make Clay memorabilia to be auctioned for the BAF. We also coordinate road trips among members who would like to attend concerts out of town, and would like to travel together, room together, and share the expenses. We have even organized caravans so that we can travel safely in numbers.
For our younger fans between the ages of 13-19, we have organized a group called the ClayDoodles. These fans visit local children's hospitals where they spend time with the children reading, playing games/puzzles, talking, entertaining, etc., and always have a gift from Clay for each child. Our gifts for this program are small toys, games, books, puzzles, coloring books and crayons and other art supplies that are fun and can easily be accomplished by a child who is bedridden. These items are donated by fans from around the world. We also have gifts for the parents who spend so much time at the hospitals with their children. These gifts are Clay's CDs, his book, and we pass out flipcards with information on the Bubel Aiken Foundation.
