A Show with a View : My NYC weekend!

What a weekend! I had so much fun and Spamalot was so much better than I ever expected. But more on that later. Fran (Franniek54) and I flew out of Chicago on Friday after a little delay. We met up with Heather (heater) and Debbie (NCSandHillsDeb) at our hotel once we arrived. We stayed at the Milford Plaza which is just about 1/2 block from the Shubert. Our room was a bit small but very convenient!
Since we stayed Friday through Monday, we were able to meet up with all the ClayManiacs that were in the city that weekend. We never did go hungry this weekend….lots of food and meals! It was wonderful to finally meet Gwenn, Marion, Jill, Cindy and Irene for the first time. It was fun to see SunnyPam, Michelle, Marilyn and Susy again too.
Fran and I saw Spamalot twice, once on Saturday night and once on Sunday night. On Saturday, we sat in the mezzanine. The seats were great and it was wonderful to see the whole stage and all that was going on for our first experience. Clay was very relaxed and comfortable in his role. He is very talented and I think he did well in all his different characters. As many of us have seen in concert, he is a great entertainer and I think that is why he was made for this show especially. He definately entertained in every part. I laughed through the whole thing and the older guy next to me was laughing and enjoying the show too. Sunday night, Fran and I were in the front row on the aisle….not the ‘Peasant’ aisle but the opposite side (the GuardClay in the tower side!). It was such a completely different show seeing it so close. Seeing the actors really get into their roles and even saying little things softer but still in character was neat to hear as well. I couldn’t wait to the Tim/KillerBunny scene to find out for sure if Heather would be chosen. When we finally saw the B101, I was so excited for Heather and couldn’t wait to see her reaction to it all. I had teased Heather that since I would be sitting right there on the side where they took the picture that I was going to wave to her then. (FYI…I didn’t, no worries. I just was smiling really big!)
I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the weekend. It was so fun to see new and old (not age wise!) friends again and to share this experience with them even added to the joy.
