Wow... One year ago today...
A day I'll remember forever. My first concert ever! And boy, was it wonderful beyond words!
It started out on 8/8/2005:
Mom woke me up VERY early and said our neighbor had a special assignment for us. It actually was a clever way for her to get me to the airport so we could see Mr. Aiken for the first time!
We flew to Columbus, Ohio and some friends of ours who live there (and whom we hadn't seen for years) picked us up. We were staying with them and they were going with us to the fair and the concert!
8/9/2005:
We woke up early- excited and ready for the day! We called it our "Clay Day."
Unfortunately, August in Ohio is rather sticky. And hot. But we didn't care! We spent a LONG day at the fair. The minutes crept by. Finally, it was time to get ready! We stood in line at the Celeste Center... but I don't remember much about that except for buying a fan-made Clay bracelet and it being very, VERY hot. I was pretty close to fainting... but Mom told me if I fainted, I'd miss the concert! That kept me going. ;)
Finally, we went in to the venue. I was sooo excited. We bought some merch, found our seats, did some texting to the big screen, and found our fellow Vegas Clay Fan, Anita, and her husband, who were a few rows away.
SHOWTIME!!!
Clay comes out in his jacket. I start bawling and it lasts throughout the 50's and 60's, I think.
FABULOUS show. I was in awe and still am today. The man is pure magic.
Good thing for Clack. The show went by so quickly and I felt like I was in a daze the whole time.
Buses:
Meeting Jacob and getting my pic taken with him was fun... but the best part by far was seeing Clay 10 feet away in his bus, happily smiling and waving to everybody. We met Ethel, too! He saw her and waved.
Oh, what a night!
Today, one year later, we've had a huge life change- a move to Raleigh- and are still enjoying our Columbus memories.

Thanks, Clay, for changing our lives and the lives of countless others for the better, forever! We're proud members of the Claynation and are in it forever. (And, new Raleigh Claymates members too! :D )
