Ya know, among the many challenges life has thrown my way, I almost forgot. Well, I forgot a whole lot of things. But I came too close to forgetting how incredible it is to be a Clayfan. A fan of Clay Aiken. Not a friend, not a family member, not a stalker or obsessor, but a fan. A fan of the music and of the man. Two separate entities.
The voice that Clay has is really a gift from God. The music that he has recorded continues to leave me breathless every time I listen. The songs I’ve heard him sing, in concert, on Broadway, and even on my iPod have made me cry, laugh, and sing along. It touches my heart, tickles my funny bone, and draws real parallels in relation to my own life. It’s incredible that Clay can sing how I feel on any given day, seemingly effortlessly.
I am so sorry to say that I almost forgot that. I forgot how happy his voice made me feel. What a cheesy, simply sentence… but so true. His music draws emotion out of me in every sense. In light of recent news, it makes me wonder something. I know how those songs related to me, but how did they convey Clay’s emotions at the time? I guess I’ve thought briefly about it before, but never this much. Every time I hear a song, I know it’ll go through my mind. Do I think that will give me some sort of special insight into Clay’s personal life? No way. But understanding the emotion that Clay put into that song can only give me a new level of understanding as to why the emotions come out in me when I listen to his music.
Obviously, every time I see Clay’s face, white or tan, short, long, dark, blond, red haired, doesn’t matter- it gives me butterflies. Clay Aiken is undeniably gorgeous. One of the most beautiful people, inside and out. He’s proved time and time again his selflessness. He has given life to another human being and shown more affection in a matter of weeks than some people will show in their whole lives.
That beautiful smile that shines as warm as the sun. Those glowing eyes that gleam from behind those clear rimmed glasses. He is my ultimate celebrity crush -that I can admit. I can’t believe I almost lost sight of all that.
It is inevitable that the people who surround such an incredible human being must be pretty special themselves. And let me tell you, from first hand experience, that they really are. I am proud to say that Clay has given me some of the best friends I will ever have in my life.
Clay Aiken has given me a lot. Music, friendship, a heck of a lot of good times and, most of all, he’s taught me quite a bit about how to be a good person. I can’t imagine not sticking by him, as a fan. Not only to give thanks for everything he has already given me, but in anticipation of more wonderful things to come. My world did not explode when Clay felt comfortable enough to share this news with the world. It just reminded me how much I love Clay Aiken, how much he has given me, and how important it is to stand by that now, more than ever. The best is yet to come, a voice can only grow stronger, more love in life can only mean more positive change, more beautiful, emotional music. So I’m staying, remembering, thankfully happily.
