  • Happy Thanksgiving

    I have always had issues with my grandfather. He is a racist and homophobic. The first time I heard Clay describe his birthfather, I was immediately reminded of him. I was dreading Thanksgiving because he would be there and I would have to keep my mouth shut, which isn' easy. But a wonderful thing happened. My grandpa told me that when he recently went on a trip, he wanted to get a book on CD to listen to. He was at the bookstore and ran across LTS. He then went on to tell me that he remembered me saying what a great person Clay was, so he bought the CD and listened to it! Not only that, but he said that if even half of what he wrote was true, then Clay is definitely a remarkable man. Then he handed me the LTS and said that he enjoyed it but knew having the CD would mean so much more to me so he wanted me to have them. (I graciously accepted and did not tell him I already had two copies. tee hee)

    There were no arguments, no tension. Not one racist or homophobic remark. The food was great. We watched football and then we watched some of my JBT DVD too. My Dad wasn't feeling so great, that was the only bad part. He has diabetes and sometimes he feels badly. Usually it makes him a grouch that no one wants to be around but today, even though he wasn't feeling so great, he was still very nice and not grouchy at all. I can't remember the last time I was over there and he and mom didn't fight.

    I truly feel blessed. It was a wonderful day.
