About genealogynut
I love family history (surprise!) and photography. I teach pre-K at a private school in Texas where I live with my husband and 2 daughters. We are all big Clay fans in our house and can't wait to see him in concert again soon. My homeboard is Clayversity where I am known as "newbird".

01/04/07 5 CommentsThink of each moment as a choice
Long time no blog! I thought today I would give you an update on my dear daughter. She continues to have problems with the spondylitis. It is worrisome for me because I am not sure what her future will be. The pediatric rheumatologist has told us that it is possible that she may outgrow this, which would be more than wonderful. There is also the possibility, however, that she will have this all her life and her condition will get progressively worse. One thing that makes me afraid is that she is having problems in more places now. At first, only her feet hurt. Then she started having problems with her knees, hands and wrists, and spine. Now she has pain in her hips and ribcage as well.
"Whatever happens beyond your control is, for the most part, no more than a background for your own will and actions. Your circumstances are not what make you or break you – it’s what you choose to do about them."
Somebody sent me the above quote recently and I really like it a lot. I am reminded of the truth in this statement as I watch my beautiful daughter deal with daily pain. She really and truly amazes me. She has figured out that complaining and whining about it does not do any good. There are days that are much more difficult for her and times when she is really cranky but for the most part, she handles it well for someone so young.
I have learned a lot from Christine. I have found that being angry at the situation does nothing to help her or myself. I have to accept the fact that some things are out of my control. I would love to fix it and make it all better for her but I can’t. What I can do is to be there when she needs me and to give her encouragement and support. God will take care of the rest. I can’t believe that God would have given her the talents that she has in abundance if He did not have a special plan for her life. I am reminded that Clay said to "let go and let God" (or something to that effect) and that is what I am trying to do.
