What if none of the AI runner ups were supposed to be successful? What if they were signed to keep other labels from signing them? When AI was in talks with Universal Music Group and threatening to leave RCA/BMG, Simon Cowell was quoted as saying he had no interest in making stars for other labels (He is an executive for BMG).

Justin Gaurini and Diana DiGarmo both made the 'wrong cds' and were dropped. Clay made the 'wrong cd', but it sold millions, even without radio support. Bo made the 'wrong cd' and it is not doing so great.

Why do all of the winners make the 'right cd', get plenty of radio support and Grammy nods?

Is it all just an accident? Or was the accident that Clay could make millions of people buy the 'wrong cd'?

    Just askin'.........
